Heather Kroencke focuses her practice on all areas of estate planning, including the design and implementation of complex trusts; estate and gift tax planning; charitable giving strategies; and Medicaid planning. She works closely with individuals and families to create tailored plans that preserve wealth, minimize tax exposure, and achieve long-term legacy goals.

Heather takes a team-based approach to estate planning, regularly collaborating closely with her clients’ family members and trust advisors—including CPAs, wealth advisors, and other professionals—to ensure each plan aligns with the broader financial, tax, and family objectives. Heather’s experience and sound legal judgement, integrated with her clients’ personal and financial considerations, make her well-equipped to assist families with developing and implementing legacy wealth planning strategies.

In addition to estate planning and administration, Heather also provides expert counsel for residential and commercial real estate transactions.

Heather started her career at ZCWS in 2008, first as a law clerk, then as an associate attorney upon graduation from Marquette University Law School (cum laude). She became a partner of the firm in 2017. She obtained a degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri (cum laude) prior to law school.

Heather and her husband, Mark, live in McHenry County with their four children. She is passionate about giving back to the community through various volunteer positions. When she is not in the office or volunteering, you can usually find her coaching youth sports.

Heather is licensed to practice in both Illinois and Wisconsin.

So very grateful to Heather for helping me get my business started. I could not have done this without the support, guidance, and encouragement at ZCWS Law. The rest of the staff were helpful and friendly, too!
